Kyocera ECOSYS Technology
|
|
Kyoceras approach to sustainability is based on a waste reduction strategy we strive to reduce the amount of resources our products consume, both in their manufacture and during their lifetime. At the heart of this is our ECOSYS printer technology, which uses unique long-life drums and developers which are designed (and indeed guaranteed) to last for the design life of our workgroup printers. In other laser printers, these items are contained in the consumable cartridge and replaced each time the toner runs out; by making them permanent components we greatly reduce the amount of waste generated by our printers as well as cutting the cost of consumables, typically by more than 50%.
ECOSYS toner cassettes are not only much smaller than normal cartridges, but they also contain only 2 types of plastic which are ID coded for easy recycling.

To create page printers with a completely new and unique concept ECOSYS - a simple acronym that stands for ECOlogy, ECOnomy and flexible SYStem, Kyocera had to achieve major technological advances. For the unique cartridge-free technology it was essential to develop a long life electro-photostatic system with an amorphous silicon drum, something that only Kyocera was able to do on a world-wide, mass production scale. The new technology drew on the companys strengths in the fields of applied ceramic production techniques.
Since its appearance, ECOSYS technology has won awards from magazines such as PC Magazine, Business Equipment Digest and a host of other awards from various European publishing titles. ECOSYS printers have a simple environmentally friendly characteristic and a very low overall cost of ownership.
